This policy has been created to explain Youlike.com’s (YouLike, we, us, our, Site) practices with regards to collection, use, sharing, access, update, protection and storage of personal data provided to us by our users. Our privacy policy is an important part of our Terms of Use Agreement. Please read this policy to understand better how we will look after your personal data.
When you create a profile on YouLike, we would like to get to know you better and it is important for us that you supply us with your accurate basic information, and answer the questions/items honestly. YouLike is a platform, where you can express yourself, your interests, character and hobbies, in a simple and organized way. We are sure that the more you say about yourself, the more you will benefit from YouLike. In addition to your basic information, we would like you to rate items on activities, your way of life, entertainment and activity preferences, etc. You have to agree that your actions such as to like, love, dislike and hate, are considered as information you are sharing with other users. We would kindly like to remind you that you are sharing private and sensitive data when rating these items, and you are responsible for what you share.
We collect content and/or information about you, whenever you interact with YouLike. Here are the different types of information we are collecting:
When you are creating an account on YouLike you need to enter your basic information such as your name, email address, birthday, gender and password. Without providing these, you will not able to register on YouLike. Although you will be expected to provide more data about yourself, the above mentioned information is crucial in order to complete your profile. Please do not share your password with anyone else.
You must be aware that the information you are sharing when you are creating an account will be available to us, and YouLike users. When you deactivate and/or delete your account some of your information could still be accessible on search engines for a limited time.
+18: YouLike is a social profiling network for members who are over 18. By using our services, you are automatically confirming that you are over the age of 18. If you are under the age of 18, you are not allowed to use our Site and share information with others. We trust you and assume you don’t give us inaccurate information about your age. Hence, we never collect and market information about children, minors or anyone under the age of 18. If you are under 18 please do not submit any information to us. Please report us if you discover a child, minor or anyone under the age of 18 on YouLike. We will then immediately take the necessary steps to cancel the member’s registration and delete his/her profile from YouLike. If we do delete a Profile due to the violation of the +18 rule, we may keep the user’s email and IP address to make sure that he does not try to break our rules by creating a new Profile.
Premium services: If you would prefer to use our premium services, please be advised that we never store financial information such as your credit card number or other payment details, whereas our designated payment service providers have the right to do so.
When you create an account on YouLike, you will start rating items. Items are things about life, and consist of several categories such as activities, entertainment, food & drink, way of life etc. Depending on the nature of an item, you may either rate an item with a “Love”, ”Like”, “Dislike” or “Hate”; or rate it with “I Strongly Agree”, “I Agree”, “I Disagree” and “I Strongly Disagree”.
A user is expected to rate items. The more a user rates items; he/she expresses himself/herself more, then he/she will be able to benefit from having created a very unique and personal page. You have to agree that rated items will be shared with us, YouLike users. When you deactivate and/or delete your account some of your information can be still accessible on search engines for a limited time.
Cookies are small and harmless files we place on your hard drive to provide a better service to you. Cookies help us to learn more about your visit details, campaign effectiveness and help us to prevent fraud. Each cookie type has a different task such as:
Using our products fully or properly, some are important for our performance.
Helping you remember/retrieve your password, the language of your profile, etc.
Measuring user analytics; and also assessing our troubleshooting performances.
Helping you if you would like to register with alternative social networks, such as Facebook, and offering functionality across these platforms and social plugins.
You will always be able to block cookies; but by doing so you might not get the best from our services and products. If you block cookies we cannot guarantee to serve you efficiently.
Whenever you are on YouLike Customer Service, we will be collecting information about you, in order to serve you better, understand your problem, classify it and respond timely.
In order to provide you with a better service and deliver targeted ads, YouLike is collecting the data of your previously visited website’s URL before YouLike and the website you will be visiting right after YouLike. These can help us to get to know you better, and learn which ads you click on. So, the next time you are on the YouLike Site, authorized 3rd parties can offer you more focused ads. Similarly, we receive the Internet Protocol (IP) address but we will not link this with your personally identifiable data and share it with 3rd parties without permission unless there is a jurisdictional case. Also, we will be collecting information about your web and mobile operating system (if you are logged in through YouLike app), your web and mobile browsers and email patterns.
Alternative Sign-Ups: You are welcome to sign up to YouLike using other social networking websites (such as Facebook). By doing this, you agree that some of your Profile data can be shared with other YouLike users. Please be advised that, if you prefer to sign up with an alternative social network login other YouLike users will be eligible to access such private information.
Mobile App and Mobile Devices: We may offer functionalities that are based on the use of your location and we may share your location with other users. Remember to use Location-based Services at your own discretion. By using such services you automatically consent to collection and sharing of your location data through our Site. We will not be liable, under any circumstances, for claims for damages that arise from your consent to share and distribute your location information together with your profile information through our site.
On YouLike, you will be able to create your personal page where you can express yourself by including your interests, hobbies, character and the things you like and dislike. Your page will be accessible to YouLike users.
Giving a better service to you: We want to share our new products and services with you immediately, and want you to experience the best of YouLike. Thus, we may use your information in-house. We will neither sell nor rent your individual data to anyone, and will make sure that your private personal data is safe with us.
Authorized 3rd Parties: We may only share your non-identifiable information with our authorized 3rd parties in order to generate industry analysis and demographic profiling. By doing that, we will never expose your identity and your personal information. Third party users might use your personal information in order to provide targeted advertising and promotions for you, both on the YouLike website and other websites you visit. We may also share non-personal information with them, such as overall popular items, relationships between questions and answers, and your interest levels about a subject/item.
Exceptional cases / Jurisdictional issues: You should also understand that in some cases we may share your information with third parties. This may or may not be required by law, or simply be requested by any legal process. We may have to defend our or another third party’s rights or property. This disclosure may also protect other people that may be in danger. We may also disclose such information if it involves any sort of abuse to a third party. Information may be disclosed to the authorities that we, with our sole discretion, deem appropriate.
Changing personal information: You will always be able to change your personal information such as your hometown, username, email address, photos, videos and password at any time on the YouLike Site. You cannot change your username once you have signed in. In order to prevent any misuse, fraudulent behavior, and hacking, we strongly advise you to change your password periodically.
Deactivating & deleting the account: You can delete your account at any time. If you would like to delete your account, you agree that you will lose all of your personal information, photos/videos, posts, your rated items and anything that is associated with your Profile. Please be advised that even if you delete your account, we may keep your information for a limited time. Please delete your account only if you are sure that you do not want to come back. Even after deletion, there may be cases that you may view and access some of your information on the web, which may be limited to what you have shared previously. We will not take responsibility in such cases, since these are circumstances beyond our control, and the information is between you and the third parties you have allowed to use your information. You can always register again with YouLike with the same email address, but you will have lost all of your previous information, and we also cannot guarantee to you that you can use your previous username.
Don’t worry: Our IT experts work hard in order to provide you with a safe environment where you can rate your ‘likes’ and ‘dislikes’ without any doubts about privacy. We will do our utmost to protect your personal data with firewalls and secured servers.
Even though we are maximizing our efforts in this area, you must accept that the internet or mobile web is not a completely safe platform and we cannot guarantee that things like hacking, data loss, and unauthorized access will not happen. In order to prevent that, we advise you to change your password once in a while, not to share it with anyone and log out of your account after using it.
